Davidson College Athletics

The Southern Conference announced its Academic All-Conference team for the 2009 fall season Tuesday, which included honors for 23 Davidson student-athletes from the men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s soccer and volleyball teams for their academic and athletic success. A record total of 316 student-athletes, representing all 12 Southern Conference institutions, were named to the team.

Through proceeds from donations, T-shirt sales and a silent auction, the Davidson Volleyball team raised $4,210 in support of the Side-Out Foundation’s Dig Pink campaign, leading all Southern Conference schools for a second straight season.

Behind a season-and career-best 16 kills from Jorden Benedict and another 16 from Sarabeth Peele, the Davidson women’s volleyball team scored  a 3-1 season-ending win against visiting Chattanooga in a Southern Conference match on Saturday afternoon at Belk Arena.
