DAVIDSON, N.C. — Senior Rob Wilson added another postseason honor to his career accolades with a nod on the Southern Conference Sports Media Association (SCSMA) All-Southern Conference Second Team as the designated hitter, while sophomore Matt Webb joined Wilson on the second team as a relief pitcher as announced today by the league office. Just a day ago, Wilson was named to the all-conference first team at designated hitter by the league coaches.

With Wilson and Webb earning honors on the media team, it marks the fourth straight year Davidson has placed at least two Wildcats on the team. Wilson earned second team honors last season.
Batting mainly at designated hitter this season, Wilson had a career year at the plate. He batted a team-high .387 (77-for-199) with seven home runs and 33 RBIs, and his 77 hits were the fifth-best single-season performance by a Wildcat and nearly doubled his career total. He finished his career with a .331 average, including 31 doubles, 16 home runs and 84 RBIs.

As Davidson's staff ace and top threat on the mound, Wilson also wrapped up his career ranked fourth in strikeouts (238), fifth in innings pitched (316.1), and third in both appearances (72) and starts (49).
Like Wilson, Webb was also a dual threat for Davidson this season. He served as the Wildcats' shortstop, and on the mound was their closer. When it came to the ninth inning with the Wildcats leading, Webb slammed the door on the opposition. He saved eight games, tied for third most in a single season for a Wildcat. The sophomore had the best ERA among SoCon closers, sporting a 1.80 earned run average.
In addition, he went 3-1 on the mound, struck out 26 batters in just 30 innings and opponents hit only .189 against the righty.

At the plate, Webb was just as good. After missing his entire freshman campaign after undergoing Tommy John surgery, Webb came back to rank first on the team with a career-best 44 runs batted in and hit nine home runs, good for second-best on the team. He set single-game highs for himself on Mar. 14 when he belted three home runs and finished with seven RBIs in leading the Wildcats to a 22-10 victory over Yale.
Davidson concluded its season with a record of 19-34 after losing in one of the two play-in games at the Southern Conference Championships against The Citadel.
