DAVIDSON, N.C. -- Both the Davidson men's and women's teams finished first as competition concluded at the Davidson Invitational Sunday evening.

The women's team finished first in the eight-team field with 786.5 points, ahead of Gardner-Webb and North Florida, and the men tallied 840 points to finish ahead of Limestone, Gardner-Webb and Old Dominion.

"The coaching staff feels good about our results this weekend," head coach John Young said.  "Anytime a team breaks records, even one, we have to be happy.  This weekend was a great checkpoint on what we can accomplish this season."

In the final day of competition, sophomore Emily Castle set a new Davidson and meet record with a winning time of 56.72 in the 100 fly.

Classmate Lindsey Martin set a meet record in the 100 free with a first-place time of 51.35. Sophomores Anna Stringfield (200 back) and Jessica Delgehausen (500 free) were individual champions in their events, and Martin, Castle and freshman Casey Van Tassell took the top three places in the 100 free.

The women's team of Stringfield, Van Tassell, Delgehausen and Castle also finished first in the 4x100 relay with a time of 3:36.60.

On the men's side, freshman Geoffrey Peitz (200 back) and junior Nate Ladner (200 breast) were winners in their individual events.
