DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson women’s tennis team saw their fall season come to an end with the conclusion of the ITA Southeast Regionals as the three players who represented the Wildcats saw their runs in singles and doubles action come to an end.
The Wildcats sent seniors
Virginia Berry (Spartanburg, S.C.) and
Ali Gores (Charlotte, N.C.), along with
Stephani Synn (Conover, N.C.) to the final event of the team’s fall season.
Berry, who along with Synn earned a spot in the main singles draw, saw her season end with a straight set setback to a player from Clemson, 6-2, 6-2. Synn faced off against Amanda Granson of Duke in the main draw as well, and her season ended in the first round, falling 6-2, 6-0 to Granson.
The duo both played in the main doubles draw as well and faced a duo from UNC Wilmington in the first round. Berry and Synn played well, but came up just short in their bid to reach the second round, dropping an 8-6 match.
The Wildcats’ final representative was Gores, who started out in the qualifying round as she hoped to join her teams in the first round of the main draw. Gores faced Ioana Oprea of Gardner-Webb and fell 6-1, 6-0.
Davidson’s spring season will start off with a home match against Presbyterian on Jan. 16 at 10:00 a.m.
