Layup Line
• The Wildcats open their home schedule by welcoming Fredonia State to John M. Belk Arena.
• The ‘Cats are in the fourth contest of a stretch where they play five games in 10 days. Three of those came in last weekend’s Charleston Classic tournament.
• The Wildcats have played their first four games away from home. It’s the first time they have started a season with four road games since 2000-01. Davidson opened the season with three contests at the Top of the World Classic in Fairbanks, Alaska, before traveling to Georgia Tech that season.
• It’s the latest Davidson has opened its home schedule since the 2002-03 campaign, when the ‘Cats’ first home game was Nov. 30 against Washington & Lee.
• The Wildcats are coming off a 59-57 loss to Penn State Sunday.
• Davidson returns 10 lettermen and two starters from last year’s team, which posted a 27-8 record and split two games in the postseason NIT.
• The Wildcats lost 59 percent of their scoring and 44 percent of their rebounding from the 2008-09 squad.
• The personnel losses are nothing new for the Wildcats. Davidson lost seven seniors and four starters from its 2006 NCAA Tournament team and managed to post a 29-5 record and advance to the NCAA?Tourney in 2007.
• Fredonia State has opened the campaign 0-2 and is coming off a 69-65 setback at Penn State Behrend.
• The Blue Devils recorded an 18-10 record in 2008-09, its best season in Kevin Moore’s eight-year tenure. FSU advanced to the championship game of the SUNYAC Tournament.
• This is Fredonia State’s first game against a Division I opponent since a 1987 meeting at Indiana State.

The Wish Tree
• In conjunction with the Alexander Youth Network, Davidson will have a Wish Tree in the lobby of the Baker Sports Complex for both home games this week.
• Each ornament on the tree contains a Christmas gift wish from an underprivileged child. Fans take the wish, go out and buy the gift and place it under the tree for the child by Dec. 17.
• In addition, each Davidson athletic team will be donating Christmas gifts to a child from the Alexander Youth Network.

Series History
• This is the first meeting between Davidson and Fredonia State.
• It’s the third consecutive game Davidson has played a school for the first time. Friday’s game against La Salle and Sunday’s contest against Penn State were both firsts for Davidson.

Home Cooking
• This is the 21st Belk Arena opener, and the Wildcats are 17-3 with a 17-game winning streak.
