Davidson Hands Out 2008-09 Athletic Awards

DAVIDSON, N.C. — Davidson College has announced its award winners for the 2008-09 athletic season, including the Tommy Peters Award (senior Andrew Lovedale) and the Rebecca A. Stimson Award (senior Mercedes Robinson), honoring the college’s top male and female athletes.

In recognition of their outstanding dedication and contribution to intercollegiate athletics, senior two-sport star Will Funderburg was presented with the Thomas A. Sparrow Award, while preseason All-SoCon pick senior Kittery Neale received the Susan K. Roberts Award. Diver Benjamin Lane, was recognized with the Helen DeVane Carnegie Award, presented to Davidson’s most outstanding freshman athlete.
