Martin and Onken Individual Winners in Dual Meet at Virginia Tech

BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Junior Lindsey Martin and freshman Drew Onken were individual event winners as the Davidson Wildcat men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed against the Virginia Tech Hokies this afternoon at War Memorial Pool.

Martin won both sprint freestyle events, finishing first in the 50 free with a time of 23.72 and first in the 100 free with a time of 51.87.

Onken also was an individual event winner for the Wildcats, finishing first in the 200 IM with a time of 1:56.18.

The Davidson Wildcat women were edged 134-100 by the Hokies, who also defeated the Wildcat men, 144-87.

Junior Jessica Delgehausen finished second in the 1000 free with a time of 10:40.37, and class Bryan Droll was the runner-up in the 50 free with a time of 21.97.

Junior Emily Castle also finished in second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 58.27, and sophomore Geoffrey Peitz turned in the second-best time in the 100 backstroke (53.19).

Junior Ben Lucas also had the second-fastest time in the 500 free (5:01.00).

The Wildcat women will conclude their home season Jan. 23, when they host Georgia Southern, Radford, Campbell and N.C. A&T.
