DAVIDSON, N.C. -- In their final home meet of the season, the Davidson Wildcat women’s swimming and diving team will host Georgia Southern, Radford, Campbell and N.C. A&T Saturday at 1 p.m., as seniors Linnea Buttermore, Kelsey Chisholm, Caroline Curtiss and Caitlin Sheetz will compete at Cannon Natatorium for the final time.
About the Wildcats
The Wildcat women (2-6, 2-0 CCSA) split decisions in dual-meet competition last weekend, winning over CCSA-foe VMI, 69-36, Friday and dropping a dual meet at Virginia Tech, 100-134, the following afternoon.
Against the Keydets, freshman
Lillie Seifart won the 200 free with a time of 1:56.88. Junior
McKensie Carr also was an individual event winner, winning the 50 free with a time of 26.62. Sophomore
Casey Van Tassell finished first in the 100 free with a time of 54.98, while sophomore
Meagan Madden won the 200 back (2:22.02), and junior
Hailey Szymczak had the top time in the 500 free (5:47.49). Seifart and classmates
Allison Cottle, Kelsey Hobbs and
Jean DeOrnellas combined for the top time in the 4x50 freestyle relay (1:42.99). Buttermore also won the 1-meter diving event with a score of 249.02.
Junior
Lindsey Martin won a pair of individual titles to lead the Davidson Wildcat women against the Virginia Tech Hokies in dual meet competition Saturday afternoon at War Memorial Pool. Martin won both sprint freestyle events, finishing first in the 50 free with a time of 23.72 and first in the 100 free with a time of 51.87.
Junior
Jessica Delgehausen finished second in the 1000 free with a time of 10:40.37, and classmate
Emily Castle also finished in second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 58.27.
Team Capsules
GEORGIA SOUTHERN (4-6, 4-4 CCSA)
Georgia Southern wraps up the regular season with competition at Davidson. The Eagles have dual-meet wins over CCSA-foes Florida Atlantic (147-141), the College of Charleston (214-82), Campbell (199-63) and North Florida (215-134), and losses to Georgia Tech (50-238), Alabama (46-248), Florida Gulf Coast (65-229), North Florida (141-149), Gardner-Webb (152-189) and Florida Gulf Coast (99-254). Courtney Martz and Alden Lynch were honored by the CCSA for their performance against Campbell. Martz won four events and set a pool record in the 199-63 home-opening win, and Lynch won both the 1 and 3 meter diving events.
RADFORD (1-7, 1-4 CCSA)
The Highlanders opened the season with five straight losses, to the College of Charleston (91.50-138.50), Randolph-Macon College (121-137), James Madison (110-173), Marshall (88-146) and Campbell (91-139) before picking up their lone win of the season over N.C. A&T. Radford also has losses to North Floria (82-141) and Florida Gulf Coast (78-173). Sophomore Katie Shaffer is a two-time CCSA?Women’s Diver of the Week.
CAMPBELL (1-2, 1-2 CCSA)
Campbell opened the season with a 155-45 win over N.C. A&T and suffered losses to Georgia Southern (109-142) and North Florida (66-133). The Camels finished second in the Highlander Invitational against Radford, N.C. A&T, Millersville and Mt. Saint Mary’s. Freshman Magda Kedracka won the 200-butterfly in a school-record time of 2:11.54 at the Invite, breaking her record from earlier this season.
