Wildcats Kick Off Indoor Season at UNC Classic

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- The Davidson Wildcat women's track and field team kicked off the indoor season, competing at the 2010 Kent Taylor UNC Classic on the campus of the University of North Carolina Saturday.
Freshman
Natalie Atabek finished in third place in the 3,000-meters with a time of 10:21.21, just ahead of junior
Heather Conarroe, who finished in sixth place with a time of 10:30.31. Junior
Danielle Ruggieri also ran the event, finishing in ninth place with a time of 10:38.54.
Sophomore
Jane Gay and freshman
Cara Wilck ran the 800-meters for the Wildcats. Gay finished in 25th place with a time of 2:30.65, and Wilck was just a spot behind in 27th with a time of 2:34.69.
Gay also ran the mile, finishing 24th with a time of 5:35.43, along with teammates
Haley Holway and
Caroline Gecker Holway ran the mile in 5:44.39 (30th), and Gecker finished in 5:45.91 for 35th place.
Freshmen
Rosie Lewis and
Jena Manilla made their debuts for the Wildcats. Lewis competed the 60-meter dash (42nd, 8.52) and the 60-meter hurdles (29th, 9.73), and Manilla finished 30th with a time of 1:07.81 in the 400-meters.
The Wildcats will return to action Friday and Saturday when they compete at the Liberty Open in Lynchburg, Va.
