Incoming Davidson Golf Class Includes Nationally-Ranked Recruit

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Ranked 67th in the nation by Golfweek amongst graduating high school seniors, Richard Fountain headlines a class of four newcomers set to join the Davidson men’s golf team in the fall, head coach Tim Straub announced Friday.
Fountain will be joined by Charlotte Latin High School product James Bramlett, Belgian national team member Samuel Echikson and Canadian standout Ben Murray.
“I am very excited about our recruiting class,” said Straub. “This is a very talented group of young men who will add a lot of depth to our team.”
Richard Fountain
Fountain, an all-state golfer out of Broughton High School in Raleigh, N.C., was one of the top-rated junior golfers in the nation and ranked sixth in the state of North Carolina. He finished 11th at the 2009 Big I National Junior Championship and was ranked No. 67 by Golfweek in the class of 2010.
Samuel Echikson
Echikson hails from Brussels, Belgium where he attended the European School and was a member of Belgium’s national team. He finished fourth in the 2009 Belgium National Stroke Play tournament and reached the third round of the 2009 British Boys Championship.
Ben Murray
Murray joins the Wildcats from Toronto, Ontario where he attended the Pendleton School. Murray recently won the Future Collegians World Tour El Campeon Open and placed 11th at the 2009 Canadian National Junior Golf Championship.
James Bramlett
Bramlett, a Charlotte, N.C. native, captained the golf team at Charlotte Latin High School. He took 14th at the 2009 Mid Pines Junior Invitational and 13th at the 2009 NCIHSAA Boys 3A Championship.
