Wildcat Women's Lacrosse and the One Love Foundation Teaming Up

DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Davidson Lacrosse team is dedicating their April 3 game against Howard University at 1 p.m. to former Virginia lacrosse player Yeardley Love and the One Love Foundation.
Shirts and other memorabilia will be on sale leading up to the game with 100% of the proceeds benefitting the One Love Foundation.
The One Love Foundation is a tribute to Yeardley Reynolds Love, who wore No. 1 as a lacrosse player at both Notre Dame Prep and the University of Virginia. Yeardley lived her life with one purpose: to make her world a better place.
In the same way, One Love Foundation's driving goal is to encourage and develop in children and young adults four qualities that Yeardley exemplified … service, kindness, humility and sportsmanship … that together add up to One Love. One Love would like to “bring out the Yeardley” in everyone by igniting the spirit of One Love in students, encouraging them to choose a path of goodness.
One Love will encourage and assist children and young adults participating in service programs with the hope that their experiences will inspire others to support charitable causes in their own communities.
One Love will seek, in partnership with a leading organization or publication, to present annual One Love Scholarship Awards to those who serve as leaders and mentors; putting others first; respecting and instilling respect for others; and making the world a better place through their work in the community. Through these awards, One Love seeks to increase awareness of the many students who remain “unsung heroes” yet display the valuable characteristics that are so often overlooked in our current society.
In the future, One Love will strive to focus considerable attention, through raising awareness and financial support, on a character-based program that will help to bring sports, specifically lacrosse, into underprivileged communities.
