DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson saw its home season come to an end with a defeat after dropping a 2-0 decision to Furman, who got a goal and assist from Southern Conference-leader Stephanie DeVita Sunday afternoon in women's soccer at Alumni Stadium.
 
The 'Cats (7-8-3, 5-4-1 SoCon) were hoping to give their seniors a winning weekend send-off after scoring a 2-1 victory Friday vs. Wofford, but were unable to find the back of the net.
 
 DeVita, who paces the league in goals and assists, added to her totals by first giving the Paladins (13-3-2, 6-2-2 SoCon) the early 1-0 lead at the 16:46 mark on a long cross from the left side of the field to the far right post, where Hannah Stanifer headed the ball in.
 
Then in the 31st minute, DeVita struck for her NCAA-leading 18th goal of the season and the 'Cats were never able to recover, falling 2-0.
 
Rachel Locke came up with six saves, while Furman's Rose Hull was credited with four in 90 minutes of action.
 
Davidson wraps up its regular season with a trip to Georgia Southern, Oct. 24, for a 7 p.m. contest vs. the Eagles.
 
Game Notes: The Wildcats finished 4-3-2 at home  … It was the final home games for seniors Louise Timboe, Julie Calhoun, Rachel Barnett and Rachael Newmister were honored as part of Senior Night … DeVita has 39 points on the year, easily tops in the SoCon … head coach Greg Ashton is five wins from 100 for his nine-year career at Davidson.
