DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Pioneer Football League announced Sunday that it named Davidson quarterback Jonathan Carkhuff the offensive player of the week and kicker Robert Schick the co-special teams player of the week, while College Sports Madness tabbed cornerback Adam Dulberger as its PFL Defensive Player of the Week, as the Wildcat trio turned in stellar performances in Saturday's win at Valparaiso.
Carkhuff completed a season-high 37-of-56 pass attempts for 395 yards and a game-tying touchdown pass in overtime, and also rushed for two touchdowns, the second and third of his career. His passing performance ranks as the seventh-best single-game total in Davidson history, and was his third of over 300 yards this season. The Marietta, Ga. native, who became Davidson's all-time completions leader last week at Morehead State, now has 837 for his career.
Schick (Wilson, N.C.) was perfect on four extra point attempts, including the game-winner in overtime. He shared the honor with Valpo punter Greg Wood, who averaged 48.9 yards on eight punts, placing five inside the 20-yard line with a long of 64 yards.
Dulberger (Myersville, Md.) defended five passes, breaking up four and intercepting one, and matched his career high of seven tackles (six solo). His breakup on 3rd-and-10 on Valpo's second-to-last drive in regulation prevented the Crusaders from breaking the 21-21 tie before overtime.
Davidson will conclude the season Saturday at home in Richardson Stadium against San Diego at 1 p.m.
