Men's Track & Field Brands Locker Room Space
Locker Room Photos
Thanks in part to alumni and donor support, the Davidson men's track & field locker room space, located in Richardson Stadium adjacent to Doe Weight Room recently received a facelift. The locker room was updated with red and black paint as well as branded with Davidson banners and logos on the walls.
While the primary space for the track program, it is also used by the football as the visiting team locker room. The locker rooms were given fresh coats of red and black paint as well as branded with team logos.
"When you walk inside the locker room it has that 'Wow' affect," Head Coach Gary Andrew said. "It evokes a sense of pride. Recruits are going to be impressed."
Several Wildcats will take to the track again this weekend as they look to improve their qualifying times for the NCAA Region Championhips prior to the deadline of May 12. Andrew Lantz, Vincent Weir, and Demetrious Pagoniswill all compete in the Virginia Challenge Saturday, May 11. Lantz will compete in either the 800m or 1500m, while Weir will run the steeplechase and Pagonis will run the 5000-meter run.
Of the Davidson competitors, Pagonis is most assured of having a place in the East Region meet, as his 10,000-meter run time of 29:32.58 ranks 20th. He is also close to being eligible in the 5000m, as his time of 14:09.96 ranks 52nd. Both marks are school records.
Lantz is on the bubble in the 800m, presently ranking 38th in 1:50.23. His season-best 1500m time is 3:50.31, but he holds the school record at 3:47.66. If he can reach that career-best 1500m time, he could earn a place in that field, as well.
Weir presently ranks 52nd in the steeplechase with a top time of 9:08.72, which is less than a tenth-of-a-second shy of the current 48th-place time.
Lantz and Pagonis are coming off stellar performances at the Southern Conference Track & Field Championships, in which Lantz claimed both the 800m and 1500 championships, and Pagonis claimed the 5000m and 10,000m titles.
