
Rueger Named Rookie of the Week in Lacrosse

DAVIDSON, N.C. — Freshman Katherine Rueger garnered Davidson's first player of the week honor when she was named the Crons Brand Freshman of the Week for Big South women's lacrosse for games from March 3-9, as announced by the league office today.
She was joined by Winthrop attacker Jenna Kasmarik and High Point goalkeeper Julia Burns, who were named the offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively.
Rueger had her best game to date as a young freshman at Kennesaw State last Saturday in helping leading Davidson to its first win of the season, 22-4. The first-year midfielder registered a season-high six points on four goals and two assists.
Rueger registered five of her points in the first half when Davidson opened up a 13-3 lead at the break. She started the scoring for the 'Cats with her first collegiate goal at the 25:33 mark and then shortly thereafter, picked up an assist on Davidson's second goal.
The Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y., native also picked up a groundball and caused a turnover in the win.
Davidson wraps up its four-game road trip with a battle against No. 6 Duke in Durham, N.C., March 13, at 6 p.m.
