After Big Weekend, Fucigna Earns Big South Weekly Award

DAVIDSON, N.C. — For the third time this season, the Davidson women's lacrosse team was honored with one of the Big South weekly awards as senior Ann Fucigna was named the Choice Hotels Big South Offensive Player of the Week for games played from March 24-31, announced by the league office today.
Fucigna earns her third career Big South weekly award, and joins Paige Logan (Defensive, March 24) and Katherine Rueger (Rookie, March 10) to win awards this season for the Wildcats.
The senior had a big weekend in leading Davidson to an 11-8 comeback win at Saint Francis last Saturday. Fucigna registered season highs of five goals and seven points, while adding a pair of assists in the victory.
She and the Wildcats outscored the Red Flash 8-2 in the second half to erase early deficits of 4-0 and 6-3 in the first half. Fucigna led the comeback by scoring half of the 'Cats' eight second-half goals, while assisting on two other goals.
After being held to just four goals in the first five games, the Wildcats' all-time leader in goals and points has caught fire recently. Fucigna has scored nine goals and assisted on five others for 14 points in the last three games, leading Davidson to a pair of wins. She pushed her career totals to 166 goals and 217 points, both tops on the Davidson's all-time record book charts.
For her career, Fucigna has 48 multi-goal games out of her 62 games played in. Twice she has registered 15 in a season.
Davidson returns home with a matchup against Old Dominion on the first of April at 6 p.m. It will be both teams first time facing each other.
