
Aleksandravicius signs with Belgium Team

DAVIDSON, N.C. — After a successful first year overseas in professional basketball, former Davidson women's basketball star Sophia Aleksandravicius signed recently to play with BC Belfius Namur Capitale in the Belgium Basketball League.
The 6-5 forward is joining Belfius Namur after it went 20-2 last year to finish second in the league standings. It reached the Division I league playoff final, before falling to Castors Braine, which was the regular season champion.
Last year Aleksandravicius played with Kibirkstis-VICI-IKI Vilnius in the Lithuanian LMKL league, which went 27-1 on its way to winning the league title and the league cup. She averaged close to nine points and seven rebounds a game in 32 contests. Her solid season was capped off by being named Eurobasket.com All-Lithuanian Forward of the Year as well as earning a spot on the first team.
In addition to helping KVIV win the Lithuanian league title, Aleksandravicius also played in 12 games in the Euroleague where she averaged 6.3 points and 3.8 rebounds as KVIV went 5-7 overall. She was even better in eight Baltic League games, averaging an even nine points and just over eight rebounds a contest.
For the season, the forward scored in double figures 23 times and recorded seven double-doubles. Aleksandravicius' best game of the season was December 20 against Ruta-University when she dropped in a season-best 21 points and hauled in 19 rebounds to go with five assists in a win. The big game earned her Eurobasket.com Player of the Week.
Her best Euroleague game came against USK Praha with 15 points and seven rebounds, part of a three-game stretch where she scored in double figures in each game. Aleksandravicius had a strong game vs. Eclex Tallinn in the Baltic League, going off for 15 points and pulling in 17 rebounds in a 94-50 victory. She followed that game up with a 16-point, 14-rebound effort in a 94-68 win vs. Umea. Half of Aleksandravicius' eight games in the Baltic League she scored in double digits and tallied a pair of double-doubles.
Aleksandravicius '13 graduated from Davidson at the time as the program's all-time leader in points (1,878) and set six other records. She was a two-time Southern Conference Player of the Year and was the program's only player to earn All-SoCon First Team honors by both the media and coaches three times.
