DAVIDSON, N.C. — For the second time during his nine-year tenure at Davidson, men's tennis head coach Drew Barrett has one of his incoming freshman classes ranked among the top teams of the mid-majors according to tennisrecruiting.net, as announced today.
The Class of 2018 came in ranked 10th in the nation in the top-25 mid-major ranking by the site. Davidson was one of three Atlantic 10 teams this year to be ranked in the top-25 mid-major rankings with their freshman class, joining George Washington (No. 9) and Dayton (No. 14).
Leading the way for the Wildcat Class of 2018 is Shamael Chaudhry, who comes to the states from Great Britian where he is nationally ranked. Artem Khrapko follows as he is a four-star recruit according to tennisrecruiting.net, while David Hager and Jack Riazzi round out the class and are three-star players.

The Class of 2013 was the other freshman class to be ranked for Barrett, coming in just inside the top-25 mid-major rankings back in 2008. Led by Joe Schafer, that class had a solid showing with all three Wildcats (Chris Mark and Kevin Moore) each earning at least one all-conference honor during their four years.
Schafer finished his four years with a combined 86 wins in singles and doubles, getting 43 wins apiece, while earning SoCon All-Freshman Team his first year and All-SoCon Second Team as a sophomore at No. 1. He was also honored with the SoCon Don Bunch/Buddy Hartsell Sportsmanship Award as a senior. The duo of Mark and Moore were each named to the All-SoCon Second Team at No. 1 doubles as seniors, while Mark had a combined 77 career wins and Moore, a doubles specialist, collected 36 wins with 26 coming in doubles action.
