DAVIDSON, N.C. – The "Cat Pack", which is made up of former Davidson men's basketball standouts, has received an at-large selection to compete in The Basketball Tournament.
The Basketball Tournament is an open application, 5-on-5, single-elimination, winner-take-all event. This year's field will consist of 64 teams with the champion taking home $2 million.
The Cat Pack roster will feature -- Kenny Grant '06, Jake Cohen '13, Tom Droney '14, Chris Czerapowicz '14, Tyler Kalinoski '15, Brian Sullivan '16 and Jordan Barham '16.
This year there are 4 regions: Northeast (Philadelphia), South (Charlotte), Midwest (Chicago), and West (Los Angeles). 12 teams from each region were selected based on FAN VOTES, another four received at-large selections. The tournament begins the weekends of July 9-10 & 16-17.
The Cat Pack will play their opening round game(s) in Charlotte July 9-10 at the Grady Cole Center.
Four teams will advance from each region to compete in the Super 16, which will be played in The Gallagher Center at Philadelphia University from July 21-23.
The four regional winners will move on to New York City for the semifinals (ESPN) on July 30 and Championship Game on August 2.
In addition to Davidson, Michigan State, Gonzaga, Villanova, Kansas State, Memphis, Utah, Marquette, Pittsburgh, Colorado, Boston College, La Salle, Bradley and Temple all have teams laden with alums.
