NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – After registering a career game in the win vs. ETSU, freshman Seeley Yoo earned the women's soccer Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for games played, Aug. 29-Sept. 4, as announced by the league office Tuesday.
The midfielder earned Davidson's first-ever A-10 player of the week honor since joining the league for the 2014-15 season. It also marks the first time since 2011 that a Wildcat has been honored with a player of the week award when Becca Fisher was named the SoCon Player of the Week, Oct. 18.
Yoo, a native from Richmond, Va., helped the Wildcats to a 4-3 triumph at home last Thursday against ETSU by registering a hat trick in just her fifth collegiate game. She started the scoring in the 28th minute with her first collegiate goal off a cross. Yoo's second goal at the 35:54 mark was off a rebound to break up a one-all tie. The freshman capped off her stellar night with the eventual game-winner on a shot to the far post off a nice touch pass from Natalie Connell.
The midfielder finished the week with four shots, three of which found the back of the net.
Davidson will host Marist this Friday evening, Sept. 9, at 5:30 p.m. inside Alumni Stadium.
