
Welch and Konstans Join ‘Cats For ’18-19 WBB Season

DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Davidson women's basketball program and first-year head coach Gayle Coats Fulks announced her first recruiting class with the signings of Chloe Welch and Sarah Konstans to national letters of intent for the 2018-19 campaign.
"We are very excited to announce the additions of Chloe and Sarah to our Wildcat Family," said Coats Fulks. "They are both tough and fearless competitors, but more importantly high character student-athletes that will represent Davidson well on and off the court."
Chloe Welch
Position: Guard
Hometown: Colorado Springs, Colo.
High School: Mesa Ridge
Athletic Honors: Three-time CSML All-Conference pick … named to Colorado all-state as a sophomore and junior … earned academic all-state member as a freshman and junior … 2017 Women's Basketball Rotary Champion (Pike's Peak Region) … 2017 Gazette Girls' Basketball 5A-4A Peak Performer of the Year.
Coach Gayle's Scouting Report: "Chloe is the type of player that coaches have a hard time taking off the floor. She is a multifaceted player that will contribute to winning basketball games in many ways. She takes pride in shutting down the opposing team's best player, facilitating for her teammates, and has also proven to be a big time scorer when her team needs it. One of Chloe's most recognizable traits is her high motor and contagious energy, which will surely be impactful on all her future teammates."
Sarah Konstans
Position: Guard/Forward
Hometown: Dallas, Texas
High School: Trinity Christian Academy
Athletic Honors: As a junior in 2016-17, averaged over 15 points and nearly seven rebounds a game … named Team MVP in 2016-17 and was a co-MVP in 2014-15 … team captain as a junior in 2016-17 … Trinity Christian Academy all-time records – first in scoring and free throws made, fourth in made three-pointers, sixth in two-pointers made, rebounds and assists … second-team All-District 2014-15 – TAPPS 5A - District 1 … first-team All-District 2015-16 & 2016-17 TAPPS 5A/6A – District 1 … second-team all-state, 2015-16 & 2016-17 TAPPS 5A/6A … named academic all-state in 2016-17, TAPPS 6A.
Coach Gayle's Scouting Report: "Whatever a coach needs, Sarah can go out there and do it. She is an extremely versatile player with a very high basketball IQ. Opposing teams are going to view her as a matchup nightmare with her ability to shoot the 3, make plays off the bounce, and capability to post up smaller defenders. She will be a great fit in our motion style offense, and will have the ability to defend multiple positions on the perimeter. Sarah is also a fearless competitor who instills a lot of confidence in everyone that she plays with."
Davidson begins its 2017-18 season with a four-game road trip, starting at Western Carolina, Nov. 10.
