HIGH POINT, N.C. — Justine Lyon led four players in double figures with a season-high 25 points and Davidson overcame a 19-point deficit in the third quarter to score an 82-74 comeback win on the road at High Point Monday evening inside Millis Center.
Lyon led the big comeback with 18 fourth-quarter points and six rebounds as she tallied her second straight double-double with a career-high 13 total rebounds and dished out a season-best five assists to go with three steals.
Davidson (4-7), which snapped a five-game skid, trailed 59-40 with four minutes left in the third quarter before starting its comeback. It closed the third on an 11-4 run to get within 63-51 and then outscored HPU 31-11 in the final quarter to secure the win.
Ally Welling had a career high game with 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting. Mackenzie Latt filled the box score with 11 points, eight rebounds, a season-high five assists and two blocks.
Senior Saadia Timpton matched her career best with 10 points, her first double-digit game of the season, and pulled in six boards. Fellow classmate Chloe Johnson played well off the bench, dropping in season highs of six points and four boards in 12 minutes.
The Panthers (4-5) were paced by Camryn Brown's 21 points, while Emma Bockrath (15) and Kat Harris (13) also hit double figures.
A 12-5 run by High Point to close the second quarter gave it a 39-32 lead at halftime and then the Panthers opened on a 20-8 run to start the third for its 19-point advantage.
Davidson started out well, going up 15-9 behind Latt's seven points. Lyon pushed the lead out to 21-14 on a jumper before the first quarter ended with the 'Cats up 21-18.
For the fourth time this year the Wildcats hit the 40-rebound mark, finishing with a game-high 44 and got 18 second-chance points on 14 offensive boards.
The 'Cats dished out a season-high 17 assists, while shooting a season-high 45.2 percent. The 'Cats were 19-of-32 combined in the third and fourth quarters, draining 11-of-17 in the fourth alone.
Davidson returns home to take on cross-county rival Charlotte Thursday at 2 p.m. before taking a seven-day Christmas break.
