Wildcats Top Aggies, Extend Win Streak to Seven

DAVIDSON — The Davidson baseball team rode shutdown pitching and a three-run second inning to a 3-0 win over N.C. A&T Wednesday night at Wilson Field.
It's the seventh straight win for the Wildcats.
Catcher Michael Carico continued to excel at the plate, going 2-for-4 and driving in the game's first run with a single to left-center. Trevor Candelaria, who also went 2-for-4, followed with a two-RBI single to center, and the Wildcats had all the runs they needed.
That's because the Wildcat pitching staff struck out 14 batters and allowed three hits.
Alex Fenton covered the first three innings on the mound, striking out three while walking one and allowing two hits. Will Schomberg threw the next four innings, striking out eight — including the side in the fourth on 10 pitches — and allowing one hit. Bennett Flynn pitched the eighth, with two strikeouts, and Gabe Levy finished the shutout and earned his third save with a one-strikeout ninth.
Jacob Hinderleider had a fifth-inning double and drew three walks.
