
Morehead State Rallies Late to get by Davidson, 28-24

MOREHEAD, Ky. – Morehead State erased an 11-point fourth-quarter deficit to rally past Davidson 28-24 in Pioneer Football League action Saturday afternoon from Phil Simms Stadium.
Trailing 24-13 after the Wildcats' Will Jones punched it in from two yards out, the Eagles cut it to 24-21 with 7:11 remaining on a Garnett Davis III touchdown run and took the lead with just over a minute to play when Carter Cravens connected with Bronson England.
Ryan Upp, one of the league's top receivers, led Morehead State (5-5, 3-3 PFL) with eight catches for 169 yards, including a 70-yard catch and run that ignited the Eagles' comeback.
Mason Sheron, who rushed for 64 of Davidson's 235 yards on the ground, gave the 'Cats their first lead, 17-13, just prior to the half. Tight end Langston Green recorded his first career touchdown grab in the second quarter.
Hayden Bender finished with 10 tackles for a Wildcat defense that finished with a pair of goal-line stands and blocked field goal in the second half.
Despite struggling to defend the run, Morehead State held Davidson (1-8, 0-5 PFL) to just 81 yards in the air while picking off two passes, including late in the game.
