'Cats Take Silver in 800 Relay to Start A-10s

HAMPTON, Va. — A silver-medal swim in the men's 800 free relay highlighted Davidson's opening performances in the 2026 Atlantic 10 Conference Championships at the Hampton AquaPlex Wednesday afternoon.

Matthew Shnowske, Mitch McClain, Fletcher Smith and Dylan Felt combined to swim a time of 6:29.55. It's the second straight year the Wildcats have taken silver with the same quartet, and it's the fourth consecutive year the Wildcats have medaled in the event, with seniors Smith and Felt a part of all four podium finishes. McClain was also on the bronze-medal 2024 team.

Wednesday's short list of events also included the 200 medley relay races and men's 1-meter diving.

The action resumes Thursday with 10 a.m. prelims and 6 p.m. finals in the 500 free, 200 individual medley, 50 free, 200 free relay and women's 3-meter diving.
